Mothers Day trip to Point Reyes

On mothers day I get to decide where we go for the day and this year I chose Point Reyes. I love all the different landscapes in Marin County, but Point Reyes is a favorit. It is rugged, wild, spectacular, quaint and desolate. There are lots of hiking trails and cows and good places to eat. You can get fresh oysters in Tomales Bay, great cheeses from Cow Girl Cremery and awesome morning buns at Bovine Bakery and lots more. I planned a tour of Point Reyes with my children and their cousin and his girlfriend. We started at the visitor center in Bear Valley, stopped for fresh sandwiches in Inverness, hiked to Chimney Rock where we had picnic overlooking the seals and we also saw a greywhale with her calf. Then we headed to the Point Reyes lighthouse where we got a rangertalk about the beacon. Back past cow country and old farms, we went to the Supermarket in Point Reyes Station and stopped by Bovine Bakery and Cow Girl Cremery. Then we headed to Samuel P Taylor State Park, where i had rented a cabin for the night. We spent the evening walking up hill to see the sunset and enjoyed smore's by the firepit. A perfect mothers day!
